In Bangladesh underground water level is depleting fast and the use of surface water is increasing. With average 2000mm annual rainfall, the government launched a project to “popularize” use of rainwater in the wake of potable water crisis in different parts of Bangladesh. Statistics show that 80 percent people in Bangladesh have access to arsenic-free water in Bangladesh, but the situation is different in coastal and hilly areas. As groundwater level depletes two or three meters per year, it becomes a major initiative to recharge the ground water levels.
